SWIMMING ELEPHANT

Founded in 2004 by multimedia artist, Shana Dressler, Swimming Elephant produces photography exhibitions, book projects, CD compilations and multimedia installations that explore world cultures and religions. Each project is designed to broaden understanding and shift a person’s perspective globally and personally.

While religion has often been at the root of conflict and violence, we believe that learning about different spiritual traditions can be used to bring people together.  By learning about others’ values, beliefs and practices, we can grow to respect them, and also better define and understand our own values, beliefs and practices, whether they are religious, spiritual, or secular. Swimming Elephant focuses on world religious traditions that are commonly either misunderstood or misrepresented, but which have penetrated western culture in subtle yet powerful ways.

With its network of international collaborators Swimming Elephant is recognized as a company where media celebrates creativity, diversity, and the human spirit.
